Clawfoot Tub

The clawfoot tub always reminds me of the early 1900's when they are most often depicted in movies. Seeing one in a bathroom today either invites a sense of elegance or rustic uncomfortable feelings. I do think they are quite lovely, but I'm personally more partial to a good whirlpool. Amazingly, the clawfoot bathtub is sometimes far more expensive than your traditional tub.

 Most homeowners who go with the clawfoot design will decorate with a victorian theme. These tubs almost demand a certain style of faucet, furniture and other accessories in the bathroom to coincide with the victorian theme.

Clawfoot tubs can come in cast iron and acrylic. You can even get a whirlpool clawfoot tub. Incredible. These tubs are generally free standing and can be very ornate. Brass trim and elaborate faucets are not uncommon. My favorite style is the "slipper tub" that is more elongated in the back to allow for long comfortable soaks. These tubs definitely do not offend me. My spine tingles even thinking of it.
